When it comes to figuring out which crossover SUV owns the title as the best there is, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross must be considered a contender after its most recent win. During the Automotive Researchers' & Journalists' Conference of Japan (RJC) back in November 2018, the 2019 Eclipse Cross was judged to be the Car of the Year.

While there is a plethora of reasons why the Eclipse Cross deserves the recognition, the selection committee noted its “high rough road performance and well-balanced dynamics.”

Credit for this acknowledgement goes to Mitsubishi’s Super All-Wheel Control four-wheel drive system and all-new 1.5-liter direct-injection turbocharged gasoline engine. These features reaffirm Mitsubishi’s never-ending commitment to iterating on its technology and design philosophies.

This is the first time in twelve years that the Mitsubishi Motor Corporation has won the RJC Car of the Year. The last win came all the way back in 2007 with the Mitsubishi i, so it’s been a long time coming.

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is available to test drive at Max Madsen Aurora Mitsubishi today. Feel free to explore our entire inventory so you can find the one you like before stepping foot in the dealership.
